Basketball Hosts Alumni

Seven Hills welcomed the holiday season with tradition and energy as more than 100 members of the community gathered for the 20th Annual Legends and Layups Alumni Basketball Event, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Alumni, current players, families, and fans packed the gym for a morning that delivered excitement, memories, and plenty of Stinger pride.

Both alumni matchups delivered drama. The boys' alumni game came down to the final possession, as a clutch, last-second shot sent the contest into sudden-death overtime before the varsity boys ultimately pulled away for the win. On the girls' side, the alumni squad controlled the pace, earning a hard-fought 60–44 victory in a game filled with intensity and competitive spirit.

Halftime provided a powerful moment of reflection, as the program honored three coaches whose impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard. Pete Matthews '91 shared memories of legendary athletic director and basketball coach Dick "Duke" Snyder, Maggie Kersting '18 recognized Tyler McIlwraith '03, and Brice Hill '19 spoke about his father and current varsity coach Willie Hill, highlighting the mentorship and life lessons passed down through generations of Stingers.

From buzzer-beaters to heartfelt tributes, the morning was a reminder of what makes Seven Hills athletics special. With alumni back on the court and the community filling the stands, Legends and Layups once again delivered a celebration of basketball, connection, and enduring Stinger pride.
