Varsity Tennis Competes in the District Semis and Finals at the ATP Center

A great showing by the varsity mens' tennis team at Districts

Four different Sectionals in the Southwest Ohio competed to advance to Districts. Each Sectionals starting out with 15 teams gets carved down to the final four singles players and final four doubles teams to compete in the next round, The Southwest Districts. So, out of the approximately 180 singles players and 120 doubles teams, Seven Hills came in second in doubles, third in singles, and first in singles. Wow, what a showing today at the semis and finals of the best Districts in the State.

Junior, Avi Mahajan lost a first round squeaker in the third set of the first round. But, he regrouped and won the play offs for third fourth. Great job Avi.

Senior, Cole Cozens won his first round battle to get to the finals. In the finals, Cole won in two sets against a veteran player from Indian Hill.

Juniors, John Corbett and Ethan Blatt fought back after going down a set in the first round. They beat a great Oakwood team to get to the District Finals. Ethan and John lost in the finals, but showed they have the makings of a solid contender for the State matches next week.

Next Thursday and Friday, Seven Hills will compete in the State tournament at the OSU Tennis complex. This is the individual side to the tennis season. The team is also in the final four of State and will compete on Sunday, May 28, at New Albany High School. The semis of State will be Cleveland, Orange against our Stingers. Make the drive to Columbus and watch your tennis team battle Sunday morning at 9:00 am, at New Albany.

A lot more tennis to be played this season. LET'S GO STINGERS!!!!
