With lacrosse season nearly a month old, some Greater Cincinnati teams have separated themselves as championship contenders.

No Greater Cincinnati school has won an Ohio High School Athletic Association lacrosse state championship since Mariemont in 2022. KHSAA is sponsoring lacrosse for the first time ever in 2025, so schools south of the river hope to take home that inaugural state championship.

Here are 12 of the schools that look like state championship contenders so far:

Seven Hills

After starting last season 1-8, the Seven Hills Stingers are 6-1 to begin 2025. That's their best start since 2021, when they were knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual state champion, Mariemont.

The Stingers are one of the smallest Ohio schools fielding a lacrosse team this season, but still, they're outscoring opponents by an average of 6.6 goals per game. Completely shutting down Seven Hills won't be an easy task, as the team has five players with 10 or more goals.
